The majority of my work is now completely abstract. I have moved away from the figure. Painting something recognisable used to be so important to me - but, I realised that I had neither the patience, or the inclination to be as good as I wanted to be. I wanted to get back to really enjoying the act of painting, not just the final product - painting to me is a selfish act - and making a mess with paint, like a child, is for me, the most enjoyable and the the most creative form of painting
